Our trial excursion rate is a success and we have decided to keep the rate in effect until December 31st. The excursion rate helps to make longer trips more affordable and only affects trips over 40km. It's still $0.42/km for the first 40km of your trip, then $0.25/km for each additional kilometre. Our first hybrid is also Victoria's first Honda Insight! As part of our long-term partnership with Dockside Green, this vehicle will join our fleet this Friday, May 1st. This car represents the latest in hybrid technology, with a longer-lifespan battery and integrated efficient driver coaching. Members may now book this silver hatchback and view location details. Thanks to Campus Honda for a discount and early delivery!

In a show of support for alternative transportation, the City of Victoria Committee of the Whole approved a bylaw amendment to provide Car Share Co-op Parking Zones! Where parking is in short supply, we're now able to request on-street parking spots as the home location for our vehicles. These spots will not replace meters and will require the support of adjacent property owners. Thanks to Victoria Transportation Technologist Steve Hutchison for working on this project. Membership and our fleet size have doubled in the last year-and-a-half, as more folks have discovered Car Sharing. In response to the rising demand, we have doubled our office hours---we're now open 10-4:30 every weekday. The Victoria Car Share Co-op is now settled into our wonderful new office in the Central Building at #320-620 View Street. We're now a partner of Scrap-It, which allows car owners to dispose of older, less-efficient cars in exchange for alternative transportation incentives. Once restricted to the lower mainland, they've now expanded across the province. Tell your friends to ditch their smoggy car and begin a life of car sharing with a $1000 credit. We're proud to announce that every car-free resident of the University of Victoria's Family Student Housing will be eligible for a free membership in the Victoria Car Share Co-op. Through an agreement with UVic Sustainability, we will help students with families to affordably expand their transportation options. We have purchased a 2008 Kia Sedona minivan which is now located at Family Student Housing, near our three existing UVic vehicles. The minivan is now available to all members. VCSC members may now use vehicles in Nelson, Revelstoke, and Kaslo, thanks to a new reciprocal use agreement with the Nelson Carshare Co-op! Much like our agreement with Vancouver's Co-operative Auto Network, you can use their vehicles at their rates but pay on your VCSC bill. Contact our office for details. Updated: The Nelson Car Share Co-op has expanded to Golden, BC and will soon have vehicles in Kimberley & Fernie.
